37-Year-Old Father Rapes 11-Year-Old Daughter in Ekiti

A 37-year-old man, Musa Nurudeen has been remanded by an Ekiti State Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter (name withheld).

Nurudeen’s remand was ordered by the court after he was arraigned by Ekiti State Ministry of Justice on one-count charge of rape.

The offence was contrary to Section 357 of the Criminal Code Cap. C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

According to the prosecutor, E.S. Atane, the defendant was arrested by police on reasonable suspicion of rape.

“Musa was charged for the offence reasonably suspected to be rape of his 11-year-old biological daughter, who is a first-year Junior Secondary School student at their residence within Ado Ekiti Magisterial District, on 19th of May, 2021,” Atane, said.

Granting the prosecutor’s request for defendant to be remanded pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecutions, Magistrate O. F. Bamidele adjourned the matter till August 11 for mention.
