Anambra 2021: ADC Holds State Congress, Inaugurates 'Anambra Global Vision'

By Izunna Okafor, Awka

In preparation for the November 6 governorship election in the state, the Anambra State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has conducted her state congress, with massive turnout.

Held in Awka, Anambra State capital, the congress which was conducted in line with the approved COVID-19 protocols and safety guidelines, attracted the presence of the officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and also featured the inauguration and launching of a platform known as Anambra Global Vision, with the theme: “Rethinking Our Strategies: Envisioning Anambra as the Ijele of Africa to Light Up the Nation.”

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, said that highlighted economy, education, employment creation, etc as some areas where Nigeria is getting it wrong, and opined that the country would hardly get it right in those areas without "working on the psyche of the ADC political leadership."

He asserted that untill Nigeria and her citizens decide to support and enthrone the right people and the right political party into power, leadership ineptitude, elite opportunism and hypocrisy, and citizens inertia would continue to weigh the country down.

“Nigerians must deconstruct the perilous order and the current mercantile political adventurism that had eclipsed the geographical space of the country. We have watched our country, states LGAs and ancient cities reduced to ethnic figments by the small minds, who have dominated positions of authority,” he said.

Chief Nwosu further assured that the era of whining, ruing and complaining in Anambra and Nigeria should be over if the people aligned themselves with ADC party and people to usher in the orchestra to showcase the superpower, economic development and progressive society, that have been denied Nigeria and Nigerians.

He also advised Ndi Anambra to support ADC, as the party is anchored on transparency, responsibility, endurance, innovation, honestly, inclusion among other leadership responsibilities, and will deliver dividends of democracy to the people, if voted into power.

“We in ADC have envisioned for Nigeria and the various states within the country true trajectories of development so that no one is left behind,” Nwosu added.

In his acceptance speech, on behalf of the state executive, the newly elected State Chairman of the party, Comrade Patrick Obianyo, said with ADC governor on the seat of power in Anambra, the state would witness rapid and massive industrialization that would pave the way for mass employment of young people.

Contributing, one of the ADC governorship aspirants for the November 6 election, Hon. Afam Victor Ezenwafor, said Nigerian youths are blessed with innate gifts and potentials that were grossly untapped and under-tapped, even as he pledged to create enabling environment to harness and maximize such potentials, if elected into power.
