Anambra Guber Aspirant, Okwuosa Dissects Power Sector, Reveals Blueprint

By Izunna Okafor

.

An indefatigable aspirant for the forthcoming November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, Sir Azuka Okwuosa has taken a quiet informative, educative and prospective dive into the power sector of the State, and revealed how he will transform the sector as one of the economic growth simulators if he becomes the Governor of the state.

Sir Okwuosa disclosed this in a well articulated content made available to newsmen in Awka, the state's capital, in which he also x-rayed the past and present situations of power supply in the state.

The statement reads in full:

Preamble:
Availability of power supply, it’s stability and improvement have been one of the propellers of economic growth and development in any geographical environment.
The importance of power supply and availability can never be underated or neglected because its presence and effect is a driving force to production, manufacturing, entrepreneurship development, business boost and host of other economic activities.

There are lots of amenities that create room for enabling environment for businesses to thrive, of which power is one of them and a major part.
It is pertinent to note that the presence of these amenities will unlock the key to massive development and business thrive in Anambra state.

Power supply in the past:

Previous governments and administrations in the past have failed to tackle power supply shortfalls and insufficiency in the state of which its effect affected production and encouraged business shortfalls despite the fact that Anambra state is rich in gas deposit; but the failure of previous government to harness these things posed a serious impediment to economic growth and development.

Power supply status presently in Anambra state:

Power supply and consumption currently in Anambra state is 54 megawatt which is below the required power consumption of 500 megawatt that is needed in Anambra state to meet up with the existing and increasing entrepreneurship growth and business expansion.

The shortfalls of power supply and availability in Anambra state have provoked many business closure, manufacturing companies retrenchment and liquidation, as well as caused many companies to relocate out from the state.
The few companies still existing in the state are forced to make provision for their own power supply and generation, thereby remitting their capital and operating cost into power generation in order to keep the business existing.

Zukky’s solution to power supply shortfalls:

Incoming administration of Hon. sir Azuka Okwuosa will apply technical wisdom, vast knowledge and ingenuity to address the issue of power supply shortfalls in Anambra state by building of Independent Power Plant (IPP) in a triangler badge linking the three major cities of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi with the aid of our available gas deposit in abundance to generate electricity and power our industries.
