OUR RESPONSE: VALENTINE OZIGBO'S AFTERTHOUGHT RECOGNITION OF ANAMBRA PDP DELEGATES

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE PDP RENAISSANCE GROUP.

It has come to our curious attention that Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, who is unlawfully parading himself as the PDP candidate for the November 6 Anambra governorship election has invited Anambra PDP statutory and adhoc Delegates to a three tier meeting at the three senatorial zones of the state.

This is ridiculous and a dubious attempt to use the presence of the Delegates to seek credibility.

His sudden turn around to recognize the same Anambra PDP Delegates that he neglected on June 26, 2021 and his sudden attempt to co-opt them into legalizing an illegality seems like the desperate actions of a drowning man and it is doomed for failure.

Did he remember the Anambra PDP Delegates when he and his 62 cronies gathered together at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center to appoint him governorship candidate?

Did he not remember that a court of competent jurisdiction had ruled that only the Delegates who were elected in the Congresses conducted on November 28 and December 1st, 2017 were competent and eligible to elect the party's governorship candidate, in line with the provisions of section 25 (ss) 1&2 of the PDP Constitution?

Why did he believe that the statutory powers of the Delegates were not necessary in a primary election and why did he fail to subject himself to the primary election where the Delegates voted to elect the Anambra PDP governorship candidate?

When he chose to go to the Women Development Center with his friends for his selection, did he believe in the statutory powers of the Delegates to elect the PDP governorship candidate?

He did not but rather did believe, that the impunity of disobeying orders of competent Courts and disregarding INEC's letter to the party, to obey the order of Court, could negate the efforts of the real PDP Delegates who voted to elect Senator Ugochukwu Uba as the authentic PDP candidate for this year's Anambra governorship election.

Mr. Valentine Ozigbo began this illegal adventure without Anambra PDP's authentic Delegates. He should finish without them because their presence in his scheduled meetings cannot legitimize the illegality he presently represents. He cannot even buy their consciences because they had already voted  and an authentic candidate had also emerged.

He cannot begin now to romance the same Delegates he disrespected and dismissed as unimportant in the primary election process. The Delegates had voted and elected Senator Ugochukwu Uba as the authentic candidate of the party in this year's governorship election, and no amount of illegality can overthrow the popular will of the Delegates.

A court of competent jurisdiction recognized and approved the Delegates as the only authentic Delegates with statutory powers to elect the Anambra PDP governorship candidate in a primary election, as provided in section 25 (s) 2 of the PDP Constitution.

They did elect Senator Ugochukwu Uba in an INEC observed primary election, with powers conferred upon them by a competent Court, on the 26th day of June, 2021, at St. Paul University playground, Awka. Any other thing outside this primary election is nothing but mere grandstanding, which is more like putting the cart before the horse.

Dr. Mckizit Ukadike,
Chairman,
The PDP Renaissance Group.
