It was a joyous day for youths, men and women of Omogho Community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, as the Prince of the community, Prince Franklin Offor celebrated his 41st birthday with various kinds of empowerments to residents of the community.

The convivial birthday celebration, which held at palace of the traditional ruler of the community and father of the celebrant, Igwe Raphael Offor, saw the celebrant dole out a total sum of ten million naira to twenty youths of the community (five hundred thousand naira each) as empowerment; donate over hundred bags of rice to the community women, and also give out a giant salubrious cow to the men.

Speaking at the occasion, the celebrant, Prince Offor, who is also a UK-based medical practitioner, thanked God for His numerous blessings, divine care and protection upon his life and his family.

On the inspiration behind the donations and empowerment, Prince Offor, who will be given a chieftaincy title on 31st December this year by Orumba North Local Government, said it was his own way of giving back to the society.

He said: “It is said that Charity begins at home. So, this is one of my own ways of giving back to the society.

“Every year, I do give out some things and empowerments, such as empowering the widows and the less privileged. But this year, I thought it wise to give special attention to the youths, because they're the future of tomorrow. And that's part of what we doing here today. I thank God Almighty who made it possible”

In their separate remarks, the parents, H.R.H. Igwe Raphael Offor (Ide II of Omogho) and Ocheze Monica Offor described their son as a blessing to the family and a vessel mightily used by God to put smile on the faces of people from time to time.

While recounting his experience growing up and the various ways God has used him to bless others in the past, they thanked God for blessing him with a heart of giving, and also prayed for God's continued blessings, protection, divine health and more beautiful years upon him as he clocked a-year older.

On his own part, the Chairman of the Occasion and member representing Orumba North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Aforka hailed the humanitarian gesture of Prince Offor, whom he noted, has distinguished himself as a great philanthropist in the community and beyond.

Hon. Aforka who is also the Majority Leader of the House, further expressed optimism that the celebrant's huge investment in the youths of the community would germinate and bear the expected fruits and contribute immensely to the overall development of the community.

He also advised the beneficiaries to properly invest and manage the seed money, to be able to make something out of it and also help others in the nearest future.

In their separate goodwill messages, a former President General of the community, Nze Cyril Nwabueze Nwankwo and the current President General of the community, Nze Chibuzor Nnabuenyi revealed that the event was the first of its kind since the history of the community, and extolled the benefactor for his think-home philosophy.

While urging him not to relent in his good works, the duo equally seized the opportunity to warn the youths against the use of methamphetamine, popularly known as mkpụrụmmiri, as the community has zero tolerance for such.

Responding on behalf of other youths, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. John Okeke appreciated Prince Offor for finding it worthy to invest in them, and described the empowerment as a challenge to them, to go out there, make it, come back and invest in others; even as he assured proper and gainful management of the resources.

Cutting of the birthday cake, as well as making special prayers for the celebrant and the beneficiaries of the empowerments formed the highpoints of the event.
