Chidi Igwe

I was born in Nigeria and trained in Canada. With a Master of Arts in linguistics from the University of Regina, and PhD from Dalhousie University, I am currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Regina. I have taught French language and linguistics in various institutions, including the French Language Centre, Awka and Dalhousie University, Halifax.

I am the author of Taking Back Nigeria from 419, published in 2007, and many scholarly articles in reputable academic journals. I am a passionate servant of the people.

I am a Communications Consultant with the Ministry of Education, where I write speeches and provide internal and external communications support/strategy to high-profile government officials.

I have served on the Board of many community-based organisations such as the Nigerian Association of Nova Scotia, the Igbo Studies Association, the Saskatchewan Organisation for Heritage Languages and the Multilingual Association of Regina.

I am the founder of several not-for-profit and charitable organizations such as the Nigeria Canada Forum Inc., Linux for Africa, the Igbo Radio, the Igbo Language Centre Online, and the Saskatchewan Magazine of African Arts and Culture.

I am very versatile in the use of computers and computer applications like InDesign, Scribus, Illustrator, Inkscape, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, GIMP, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Kdenlive. I am also very fluent in web programming languages such as HTML and CSS. I have developed hundreds of websites based on Joomla, WordPress and Site Core.

I am currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma/Master of Laws (LLM) at the University of London, United Kingdom.
